研究所成立于2005年12月，它依托上海应用技术学院现有雄厚的艺术研究人才，对内进行艺术创作与教学研究，对外开展艺术创新和学术探索，并兼顾艺术品的市场流通，以务实发展为宗旨，目前各项工作正取得一定进展。现任所长林朝阳副教授。
The Research Institute of Plastic Arts was established in December, 2005. It relies on the abundant artistic elite, which carries on artistic creation and teaching research within the college and develops artistic innovation and academic exploration outside the college. At same time, it gives consideration to the market circulation of work of art and its sole purpose is to develop art business. At present, each item has been in progress. Now the associate professor Lin Zhaoyang is the director of the Research Institute of Plastic Arts.
研究所下设绘画研究工作室，工艺美术工作室，书法研究工作室
The Research Institute of Plastic Arts consists of the Painting Research Studio, the Arts and Crafts Studio and Calligraphy Research Studio.
